Arunachal Pradesh, the land of the rising sun, is the easternmost state of India and shares international boundaries with China (Tibet), Myanmar and Bhutan. The state covers an area of 83,743 sq. km with difficult hilly terrain and dispersed population.

National TB Control Programme (NTCP) was implemented in Arunachal Pradesh in 1967 with two District TB Centres:

• DTC Pasighat
• DTC Margherita

Later, additional DTCs were established at Ziro, Bomdila, Tezu and Aalo in 1974. Short Course Chemotherapy (SCC) was introduced during 1983-84.

Preparation for RNTCP began in Arunachal Pradesh in 1999 with infrastructure development, manpower recruitment and creation of Designated Microscopy Centres (DMCs).

Formal RNTCP service delivery commenced on 20 September 2002.

New DTCs Upgraded

PMDT Services were launched in Arunachal Pradesh in November 2011 to manage Multi Drug Resistant Tuberculosis (MDR-TB).

• Training of DTOs, MO-TCs, Lab Technicians and Supervisory Staff.
• Training on revised PMDT Guidelines.
• Training of District Accountants on PFMS.
• Conducted Active TB Case Finding in 4 districts.
• Launched Fix Dose Daily Regimen (FDC).
• Installed 3 additional CBNAAT machines.
• Training on CBNAAT machines.
• Launched shorter MDR-TB regimen.
• Procured computers for PFMS.
• Training on Nikshay DBT-PFMS.

• Timely nutrition support payment to TB patients.
• Strengthen TB notification from private sector.
• Schedule H1 implementation.
• Timely payment of incentives & honorarium.
• Establishment of District DR-TB Centres.
• Strengthening Nikshay Portal real-time entry.
• Implementation of NIKSHAY Aushadhi.
• Direct Beneficiary Transfer (DBT) implementation.
• Internal Evaluation, Supervision & Monitoring.
