Health Awareness & Public Welfare Programmes
The Government of Arunachal Pradesh has set up important guidelines for the Health & Family Welfare Department to improve healthcare facilities across the state. Continuous efforts are being made to formulate and implement schemes that ensure quality healthcare services to all citizens, especially people living in tribal, rural and backward regions of Arunachal Pradesh.
The department actively implements various National Health Programmes for disease prevention, healthcare awareness, immunization, mental health support, disease surveillance, and public welfare initiatives.
Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme
Focused on prevention, early detection and effective treatment of Tuberculosis (TB) across the state.
National Leprosy Elimination Programme
Ensures timely diagnosis and treatment of leprosy while spreading awareness to eliminate social stigma.
Iodine Deficiency Disorder Control Programme
Aims to prevent iodine deficiency disorders through awareness and proper nutritional support.
National Vector Borne Disease Control Programme
Works towards controlling diseases like malaria, dengue and other mosquito-borne illnesses.
National Programme for Control of Blindness
Provides screening, awareness and treatment facilities to reduce preventable blindness and visual impairment.
Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme
Strengthens disease monitoring and quick response systems for outbreak prevention and control.
National Mental Health Programme

Immunization Programme
Immunization is one of the most cost-effective interventions for disease prevention and child health protection. As per NFHS-3 data, the full immunization coverage in Arunachal Pradesh was recorded at 52%. The Health & Family Welfare Department continues to strengthen vaccination programmes and awareness campaigns to ensure complete immunization coverage for children across the state.
