Introduction

The Directorate of Family Welfare was bifurcated as an independent Department from the Directorate of Health Services vide Government Order No. MDEV-321/12 dated Itanagar, 20th October 2014.

The Directorate deals with matters related to all Family Welfare Programmes, coordination with NRHM/NHM, implementation of the Expanded Programme of Immunization (EPI), Reproductive & Child Health (RCH), Maternal & Child Health (MCH) programmes and other National Programmes implemented by the Family Welfare Division, Government of India.

Major Responsibilities & Activities

Family Welfare Schemes

Implementation of all schemes and programmes related to Family Welfare in the State.

NHM Coordination

Coordination with NRHM/NHM activities at both State and Central Government levels.

Vaccination & EPI

Implementation of Expanded Programme of Immunization (EPI) and vaccination activities.

Maternal & Child Health

Strengthening Maternal and Child Health programmes across the State.

RCH Programme

Implementation and monitoring of Reproductive & Child Health programmes.

Coordination with DHS & DME

Coordination with DHS and DME(T&R) for implementation of important Central Health Schemes.

Cadre Rules & Recruitment

Formulation of Cadre Rules, Recruitment Rules (RR), and departmental regulations.

Human Resource Management

Appointment and management of staff required for the Department of Family Welfare.

Other Government Assignments

Carrying out additional activities and responsibilities assigned by the Government from time to time.
