Mission Directorate (National Health Mission)

Strengthening healthcare delivery systems across Arunachal Pradesh through equitable, affordable, accessible and quality healthcare services for all.

About NHM

The National Health Mission (NHM) is a nationwide initiative aimed at ensuring effective healthcare delivery through interventions at individual, household, community, and health system levels. Despite significant progress in improving life expectancy and reducing mortality and morbidity, major healthcare challenges still persist, especially in remote and underdeveloped regions.

In many parts of the country, especially the North-Eastern states including Arunachal Pradesh, health indicators remain below national averages due to socio-economic challenges, difficult geographical terrain, limited accessibility, and weak institutional infrastructure. The Mission seeks to bridge these gaps through integrated and decentralized healthcare delivery.

Mission Objective:
To provide effective, equitable, affordable and accessible healthcare services to the rural and underserved population, especially women and children, by strengthening public health systems, promoting community participation, improving accountability and enhancing service delivery.
