About Arunachal Pradesh

Arunachal Pradesh, erstwhile known as North Eastern Frontier Agency (NEFA), is popularly known as the “Land of Rising Sun”. The state is situated in the north-eastern part of India and shares international boundaries with China in the north, Myanmar in the southeast and Bhutan in the west.

The state lies between latitude 26.42°N to 29.30°N and longitude 90.36°E to 97.30°E, covering a total geographical area of 83,743 sq. km.

As per Census 2011, Arunachal Pradesh has a population of 13,82,611 with a population density of 17 persons per sq. km. The sex ratio of the state is 920 females per 1000 males.

Due to its unique topography and difficult terrain, the state has a widely dispersed settlement pattern. Rural population contributes 77.33%, while urban population contributes 22.67%. The decadal population growth is 26.92% and the literacy rate stands at 66.95%.
