The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has been established under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 for ensuring safe and wholesome food for human consumption. The programme consolidates multiple food laws under a single regulatory framework and promotes food safety awareness, testing, licensing, inspection and enforcement across Arunachal Pradesh.

The Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India is the administrative ministry for implementation of FSSAI. The authority develops standards, accredits laboratories, provides technical support, promotes food safety awareness and ensures availability of safe food for citizens.
