Reporting Methodology

Under IDSP, disease and outbreak reporting is carried out on a weekly basis by all District Surveillance Units (DSUs). Data is collected from District Hospitals, CHCs, PHCs and accessible Sub-Centres and compiled at district level before uploading to the IDSP portal.

Four reporting formats are used: S Form, P Form, L Form and EWS/Outbreak Form. All districts are reporting regularly and on time to support real-time disease monitoring.

Outbreak Analysis (2008 - 2018)

Over the last eleven years, IDSP has reported and investigated numerous outbreaks across Arunachal Pradesh. Despite challenges posed by remote geography and difficult terrain, the programme has successfully supported early detection and timely containment of outbreaks, helping save lives.

Laboratory confirmation of diseases is currently supported through RMRC (ICMR) Dibrugarh and NCDC New Delhi. A District Public Health Laboratory at Arunachal State Hospital, Naharlagun has also been established to support epidemic-prone disease testing.

Message from State Surveillance Officer

Integrated Disease Surveillance Programme (IDSP) has transformed disease reporting and outbreak management in Arunachal Pradesh. Through the use of information technology, real-time disease reporting from remote areas has become much faster and more accurate.

The surveillance system has strengthened outbreak detection, response and capacity building among doctors and para-medical staff. However, challenges still exist due to the difficult terrain and remoteness of the state. Support and cooperation from all sectors remain essential for achieving the objectives of IDSP.
