Ambulance under National Health Mission
Currently under NHM, 123 Ambulances and 4 Critical Care Ambulance Services are available in the state. These ambulances are attached to PHCs, CHCs and District Hospitals / General Hospitals and are utilized for transporting emergency and non-emergency patients under the JSSK Scheme.
A centralized 102 Call Centre is operational and integrated with the ambulance services under NHM to provide timely referral and transport facilities throughout the state.
The referral transport system mainly prioritizes complicated pregnancies, severely sick children and patients belonging to economically weaker sections. Since there are no private referral transport providers in the state, the entire system depends on Government health facilities.
Better equipped ambulances are being planned for FRU Hospitals to manage increasing cardiac and neurological emergency cases. All ambulances are under the direct supervision of the District Medical Officers (DMOs).
