TRIHMS Medical College Approved for 100 MBBS Seats by NMC

I am delighted to inform that TRIHMS Medical College has been permitted to admit 100 MBBS students from the academic session 2024-25 onward, by the National Medical Commission: Medical Assessment & Rating Board. This development is a significant boon not only for TRIHMS but also for the State Health Department and the people of ArunachalPradesh.

Met with Shri Apurva Chandra ji, Secretary, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare (MoHFW), and Smti. Aradhana Patnaik, Additional Secretary, MoHFW & Mission Director, NHM, at Nirman Bhawan, New Delhi.
Discussed on how the central assistance to state Health Department can be enhanced and work together on new proposals & schemes to enhance the primary & tertiary healthcare scenario in Arunachal Pradesh.
Goal is to minimize the need for people to travel outside the state for major medical treatments and ensure that they can receive comprehensive care within Arunachal itself.

Inauguration of Water Supply Project at TRIHMS, Naharlagun

The project 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗹𝘆 𝗮𝘁 𝗧𝗥𝗜𝗛𝗠𝗦, 𝗡𝗔𝗛𝗔𝗥𝗟𝗔𝗚𝗨𝗡 was inaugurated by Hon'ble Chief Minister Shri Pema Khandu ji today.
This project, with a capacity of 19 lakh litres per day, has been developed under the Itanagar Smart City MissionDirected officials to strengthen emergency healthcare facilities across the state.

Launch of Mobile Applications for Smart Healthcare Services at TRIHMS

Dedicated mobile applications to the people of Arunachal Pradesh at TRIHMS, Naharlagun. These apps allow our people to book doctor appointments from the comfort of their homes, avoiding long queues at hospitals. Additionally, with the use of ABHA-based scan and share, they can now effortlessly scan a QR code at the hospital to register and generate their tickets.

Inauguration of First 3D Printing Dental Lab at NERIST under PM-DevINE Scheme

Inaugurated the first 𝟑𝐃 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐚𝐛 𝐚𝐭 𝐍𝐄𝐑𝐈𝐒𝐓 today, established through the PM-DevINE scheme under the Ministry of DONER.
Allowing our people to access advanced dental services within the state, eliminating the need to travel outside.
The programme was attended by Director NERIST & his team, along with MD NHM, and other dignitaries & senior health officials.

Inaugurate the 𝑳𝒊𝒒𝒖𝒊𝒅 𝑴𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝑶𝒙𝒚𝒈𝒆𝒏 (𝑳𝑴𝑶) 𝑷𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒕, 𝑰𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒔𝒊𝒗𝒆 𝑪𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒕 (𝑰𝑪𝑼), 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑷𝒆𝒅𝒊𝒂𝒕𝒓𝒊𝒄𝒔 𝑪𝒂𝒓𝒆 𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒕 at 𝗭𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗼𝘀𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹, 𝗔𝗮𝗹𝗼 in the presence of the MD NHM, DC Aalo, Health Coordinator, DMO, and senior officials from the dept.
This 10 KL capacity LMO Plant, with an oxygen cylinder refilling facility, ensures a steady supply of oxygen for the hospital.
The dedicated ICU and specialized Pediatrics Care Unit, consisting of a 5-bed ICU, 3-bed PICU, and 4-bed HDU, will enhance the hospital’s ability to deliver comprehensive, life-saving healthcare to critically ill patients and cater to Pediatric needs.

Interacted with doctors and nurses of 𝗭𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗚𝗛 𝗛𝗼𝗽𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗮𝗹𝗼, addressed their challenges and concerns.
Also took the opportunity to inspect the hospital's under-construction buildings with the concern dept, reviewing the progress to ensure timely completion.
GH Aalo holds strategic importance as it caters not only to West Siang District but also provides essential healthcare services to neighboring districts. It's important that the Hospital has sufficient facilities to meet the healthcare needs of all.

Visited 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐬 (𝐇𝐖𝐂𝐬) 𝐃𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐚 & 𝐏𝐨𝐛𝐝𝐢 along with HMLA Shri Topin Ete ji today.
Appreciate the Health Department of Aalo for keeping all health centres clean and well-organized.

Visited 𝐁𝐚𝐤𝐢𝐧 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐢𝐧 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥, 𝐏𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐚𝐭, today alongwith Hon'ble MLA Shri Tapi Darang Ji and former MLA Shri Kaling Moyong Ji.
Inspected various critical sections of the hospital, including the CMMAY office, Surgery ward, Medicine ward, ICU, OT complex, Dialysis ward, MCH Block, ASR laboratory, blood bank, OPD block, and the casualty and emergency ward.
Interactions with doctors and nurses provided valuable insights into their challenges and needs.

Visit to 𝐃𝐫. 𝐁. 𝐁𝐨𝐫𝐨𝐨𝐚𝐡 𝐂𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐭𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐆𝐮𝐰𝐚𝐡𝐚𝐭𝐢 today holds great significance, as the institute is our technical partner in establishing 𝗔𝗿𝘂𝗻𝗮𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗹 𝗣𝗿𝗮𝗱𝗲𝘀𝗵’𝘀 𝘂𝗽𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲𝗿 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝗠𝗶𝗱𝗽𝘂, 𝗜𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗿. Their expertise and support are essential to our vision.

Attended the 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐀𝐲𝐮𝐬𝐡𝐦𝐚𝐧 𝐁𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐭 𝐃𝐢𝐠𝐢𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 alongside Ms. L.S. Changsan Ji, CEO National Health Authority, today at Ziro. This event marks an important gathering of officials from States and Union Territories, fostering collaboration and sharing insights to seamlessly integrate digital health solutions within the ABDM ecosystem.
Key initiatives such as the 100 Model Facility, "Scan and Share" system, Unified Health Interface (UHI), National Health Claims Exchange (NHCX), and "Scan and Pay" were highlighted.

Chaired the 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐥 𝐂𝐨𝐨𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧-𝐜𝐮𝐦-𝐑𝐞𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐌𝐢𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 (𝐍𝐇𝐌) in Naharlagun, attended by the Mission Director (NHM), SPOs, SNOs, and ANOs.
NHM plays a key role in strengthening healthcare in Arunachal Pradesh, with it's holistic approach by focusing on maternal and child health, infrastructure, and equitable access to services. Together, we are committed to ensuring the benefits of NHM reach every corner of the state for a #HealthierArunachal.

Review Meeting on Drug Recovery Incident and 108 Ambulance Service Concerns

A meeting was held today to 𝐚𝐝𝐝𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐬 𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐝𝐫𝐮𝐠𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝟏𝟎𝟖 𝐀𝐦𝐛𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐢𝐜𝐞.

Rollout of CMAAY Health Scheme for Working Journalists of Arunachal Pradesh

Rollout the dedicated health scheme, Chief Minister Arogya Arunachal Yojana (CMAAY) to working journalists of Arunachal Pradesh.
An initiative that is the first of its kind in India that has been made possible under the able leadership of HCM Shri Pema Khandu Ji.

Solar Energy by SELCO: 572 Health centres in the state to be electrified using solar energy to ensure uninterrupted power for critical services like maternal care, immunization, and diagnostics, with 5 years maintenance support.
Technical & Operational support by Hans: Adoption of 14 HWCS and 6 PHCs to improve healthcare accessibility.
Free Services: All services provided under these initiatives will be completely free of charge as these are purely under CSR initiative.

Consultation with AIIMS and MoHFW Experts on Strengthening Emergency and Trauma Care Systems in Arunachal Pradesh under ICMR-Backed Initiative

Met with pioneers of Emergency Care Services Dr. Sanjeeb Bhoi (Prof. & HoD), Dr. Tej Prakash Sinha (Associate Prof.) from Jai Prakash Narayan Apex Trauma Centre, AIIMS, New Delhi and Dr. Manas Pratim Roy, ADG, MoHFW, GOI. They are the most experienced faculties in the field of Emergency & Trauma in the country.Their team is conducting an ICMR-funded study on strengthening emergency care systems in ArunachalPradesh.
We discussed enhancing our state's Emergency Services with AIIMS and MoHFW support. A State-Level Steering Committee will soon be formed to prioritize stroke, trauma, and heart attack care—focusing on life-saving interventions during the golden hour.

Held a productive video conference meeting with all DMOs to discuss effective strategies for spreading awareness on drug abuse and HIV/AIDS across every district through IEC.
Discussed ways to strengthen outreach for critical govt.-supported services like TELE MANAS, which offers mental health support through the toll-free number 14416, and HIV/AIDS screening and treatment services, accessible via toll-free number 1097.
The goal is to ensure that these life-saving services reach every corner of the state.

State Cabinet Meeting Chaired by Hon’ble Chief Minister, Including Virtual Inauguration of Arunachal Pradesh Patients’ Guest House at Vellore and Approval of State Youth Policy 2025

Attended the State Cabinet Meeting chaired by Hon'ble CM Shri Pema Khandu Ji.
During the meeting, the 𝐀𝐫𝐮𝐧𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐡 𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬’ 𝐆𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭 𝐇𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐕𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐞 was virtually inaugurated — a safe and affordable facility located just 4 km from CMC, offering 28 rooms and self-cooking options. This will ease the burden on hundreds of patients from Arunachal who travel to Vellore each year, often facing high expenses and difficult living conditions.
The Cabinet also approved the 𝐀𝐫𝐮𝐧𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐡 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐭𝐡 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓 — a progressive roadmap to empower youth with the right skills, strong values, and equal opportunities for a brighter future.

Release of Grant-in-Aid under National Mental Health Programme to Hara Hapa Prayer Centre, Hoj for Strengthening Mental Health and De-addiction Services

Pleased to hand over a Grant-in-Aid of Rs 5 Lakhs to NGO, Hara Hapa Prayer Centre in Hoj today under the National Mental Health Programme of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, GoI.
Established in 2003, this dedicated NGO has been a beacon of hope, providing relentless service in the mental health sector. The centre is presently caring for 60 inmates in total, including around 40 mental health patients and drug de-addiction cases. Their steadfast commitment to rehabilitation and support for those in need is truly inspiring.

3rd State Council on AIDS Meeting under the Chairmanship of Hon’ble Chief Minister, Focusing on Strengthening HIV/AIDS Prevention and Drug Abuse Control Measures

Chaired by Hon’ble CM Shri Pema Khandu Ji, the 3rd State Council on AIDS (SCA) Meeting was held today at the CM’s Office, Niti Vihar.
Containing the spread of HIV/AIDS in the state is a matter of utmost importance. Recent data shows HIV/AIDS transmission through infected needles (66.55%) higher than through unprotected sex (30.55%), underlining the urgent need to tackle drug abuse alongside HIV prevention.
We resolved to:
Strengthen awareness on HIV & substance abuse.
Intensify Nasha Mukht Bharat Abhiyan.
Build a united, multi-sectoral response.

Red Run Marathon for HIV/AIDS Awareness and Review Meeting on Strengthening Healthcare Service Delivery in Arunachal Pradesh

Flagged off the Red Run Marathon today in Itanagar, where students from colleges all across Arunachal participated, carrying the powerful message of HIV/AIDS awareness under the theme "Youths Against HIV/AIDS."
These talented young runners were selected from their respective colleges. The winners from this event will proudly represent our state at the grand marathon in Dimapur, Nagaland, on 30th October.
Chaired a review meeting with DMOs and senior doctors to assess the health services in our state. Joined by Hon’ble Advisor Dr. Mohesh Chai ji, along with directors and senior officials.
Discussed key challenges, evaluated ongoing initiatives, and explored strategies to further strengthen healthcare delivery for our people.

Visited the 300-bedded new hospital building at Pasighat, which is currently at the mid-stage of construction. I also reviewed the ongoing works of the Critical Care Centre and the MRI Unit.
Pasighat has already emerged as a major hub for patient treatment in the region. With the completion of these key healthcare infrastructures, the hospital will be much better equipped to handle the growing patient load and provide advanced, timely, and quality medical care to the people

Despite limitations in human resources, the team is managing the health centre efficiently and providing essential healthcare services. Listened to their concerns and challenges, which will be taken into consideration while working towards further strengthening healthcare centres.

Launch of State HPV Vaccination Campaign Against Cervical Cancer to Protect Adolescent Girls and Advance the Vision of a Cancer-Free Arunachal Pradesh

The State HPV Vaccination Campaign against Cervical Cancer was launched by Hon’ble CM Pema Khandu at TRIHMS, following the national launch by Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi ji from Ajmer, Rajasthan.
Through this initiative, we are investing in the health and future of our daughters. Cervical cancer is one of the leading cancers among women, with nearly 99.7% of cases caused by HPV infection. Arunachal Pradesh has already been affected by the cancer burden, and this campaign is a strong step forward towards building a Cancer-Free Arunachal.
At the launch of the State HPV Vaccination Campaign against Cervical Cancer, 5 young beneficiaries aged 14 years received the HPV vaccine and certificate.
The Department of Health & FW has made thorough preparations to vaccinate 19,476 girls aged 14 years across Arunachal Pradesh over the next three months.

Visit to Remote Health Sub-Centre at Banggo Village to Assess Healthcare Challenges and Infrastructure Needs in Riverine Areas

Visited a Health Sub Centre located in the remote village of Banggo under Lower Dibang Valley district. Reaching the centre required crossing a river by boat, which is quite dangerous, especially during the rainy season.
The sub-centre is functioning from a kaccha house, voluntarily built by the villagers and inaugurated in 2025. It caters to people from Mer and Banggo villages, as well as nearby villages of Assam, where accessing nearby PHCs or CHCs is difficult due to the need to cross the river.
Reviewed the infrastructure and felt the urgent need for proper facilities, including residential quarters for doctors and healthcare staff. Discussed the matter with the concerned MLA and DMO and will work towards a solution.

Visit to PHC Sarli, Kurung Kumey District to Review Healthcare Services and Assess Critical Human Resource and Infrastructure Needs in a Remote Border Region

Tour to Sarli, visited PHC Sarli and reviewed the ground realities of healthcare services in this remote border region of Kurung Kumey dist.
With nearly 45 villages under Sarli and Polosang circles, the PHC is currently functioning without a regular allopathic doctor and is being managed by a single AYUSH Medical Officer.
Interacted with the staff, assessed urgent needs, and assured that necessary steps will be taken to strengthen services.
Also applauded MO (AYUSH) Dr. Tarh Loth and his team for their dedication in providing healthcare services despite limited facilities and manpower.

State-Level Nexus Planning Meeting under NHRP Project on Integrated Emergency Care to Strengthen Emergency and Trauma Care Systems in Arunachal Pradesh

Attended the State Level Nexus Planning Meeting under the NHRP Project on Integrated Emergency Care, along with Hon Advisor Dr. Mohesh Chai Ji.
Deliberations focused on strengthening integrated emergency and trauma care systems through the proposed Arunachal Pradesh Integrated Emergency Care System (AP-IECS) for timely and quality management of critical cases.
The meeting was attended by senior scientists from ICMR, New Delhi and Professors from JPNA Trauma Centre, AIIMS New Delhi, who have been guiding the State Health Dept and TRIHMS Medical College.
It is worth mentioning that the Emergency Dept of TRIHMS has been declared as a Centre of Excellence (COE) by the MoHFW, Govt. of India.
Arunachal Pradesh is the top-performing state in the implementation of this NHRP Project.

Meeting with Hon’ble Union Health Minister Shri J. P. Nadda Ji to Discuss Strengthening Healthcare Infrastructure and Addressing Key Health Sector Challenges in Arunachal Pradesh

Called on Hon’ble Union Health Minister Shri J. P. Nadda Ji at Kartavya Bhawan, New Delhi. Apprised the Hon’ble Minister of the key gaps and challenges in the State’s health sector, including the need for a Critical Care Block (CCB) Maternity and Child Block, a Day Care Cancer Centre in Itanagar, and strengthening of infrastructure at TRIHMS, the State’s lone medical institute.
Sought guidance and support for addressing these requirements and for further strengthening healthcare delivery in the State.

Observance of World Malaria Day 2026 and Reaffirmation of Commitment Towards Malaria Elimination in Arunachal Pradesh

On World Malaria Day (April 25, 2026), let us reaffirm our commitment to eliminate Malaria. This year’s theme, “Driven to End Malaria: Now we can. Now we must.”, calls for urgent and collective action to achieve zero indigenous cases by 2027 and complete elimination by 2030.
Arunachal Pradesh has made remarkable progress, moving to Category I (low burden) in 2022, with 19 districts malaria-free for the past three years—but sustaining this achievement remains a challenge.
Through the National Center for Vector Borne Diseases Control (NCVBDC), key tools are available across all districts.
LLINs (treated bed nets), Rapid Diagnostic Tests (RDTs), and free ACT-AL treatment.
